Dear Medical Students’ Aid Project members and community, 

We are Teresa and Mansimran, your 2023 Co-Chairs.

We are Teresa and Mansimran, your 2023 Co-Chairs. As members of the 2022 MSAP Executive, we are passionate about continuing the work of our predecessors in enhancing global health engagement in the UNSW Medicine and Health community. We are excited to continue MSAP’s flagship projects in a post-Covid era and work alongside our executives to engage deeply with global health education, advocacy and collaboration. 

We aim to continue building upon the activities and outreach that MSAP has conducted over the past two decades by strengthening our relationship with existing partners and promoting events to a broader audience, in particular engaging with other faculties within the medicine discipline. At the same time, we will prioritise our volunteer wellbeing, supporting them with their endeavours both inside and outside of the organisation. 

This year, MSAP plans to continue running flagship events including Birthing Kit Night, Global Health Short Course and our overseas Elective Aid Program. We also plan to introduce new opportunities for student engagement, with the publication of our Friends’ Education Series on Indigenous Health, our collaborative UNSW Medicine Introduction to Global Health Night with valued partners, and our menstrual products drive with Share the Dignity. Each event will be carbon offset with proceeds towards the Yarra River Biodiversity Corridor. 

MSAP’s activities are strongly reliant upon our student volunteers who make up our executive and committees. To enhance their experience, we aim to introduce more opportunities for our team in upskilling, networking and learning through internal and external events. Additionally, through our 2022 executive, we have introduced a Welfare Policy to support our team through all aspects of their wellbeing, which will continue to be reviewed quarterly. With this, we aim to ensure that MSAP remains a welcoming, inclusive community.

We are looking forward to a fruitful year ahead and hope you will join us in this journey.
